Yusuf Islam

British-Cypriot singer-songwriter born Steven Demetre Georgiou, professionally known as Cat Stevens, who achieved musical prominence in the 1970s. Though he embraced Islam and withdrew from mainstream music, his earlier secular compositions have been adapted by some contemporary Christian artists, though he is not primarily known as a hymn composer.
