William Pierson Merrill

American Presbyterian minister and hymn writer best known for the hymn 'Rise Up, O Men of God' (1911). His texts reflected progressive Social Gospel ideals and emphasized Christian activism and social responsibility. He served as pastor of Brick Presbyterian Church in New York and contributed significantly to early 20th-century American Protestant hymnody.
