Thomas Shepherd

English Independent (Congregationalist) minister and hymn writer who contributed to early English hymnody during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Shepherd's hymns reflected the theological concerns of Nonconformist Protestantism. He worked during the foundational period of English congregational song before the major hymnic developments of the later 18th century.
