Thomas Olivers

Welsh Methodist preacher and hymn writer whose most celebrated work, 'The God of Abraham Praise,' adapted a Hebrew liturgical melody with English text to create one of Methodism's greatest hymns. Olivers's conversion narrative and his devoted Methodist ministry informed his theologically rich hymnic compositions. His work remains prominent in Methodist and broader evangelical hymnals.
