Harriet Beecher Stowe

American author and abolitionist known primarily for Uncle Tom's Cabin; she also authored hymn texts reflecting her Christian faith and moral convictions. Her hymns, though fewer in number than her literary works, contributed to nineteenth-century American Protestant hymnody.
